Privacy Policy

BuildCostPilot is operated as a browser-first construction calculator and estimating website. The current service does not require an account, does not process payments, does not use AI features, and does not maintain a BuildCostPilot server database of project estimates.
Scope
This policy explains how information is handled when you visit BuildCostPilot, use calculators, save project estimate information in your browser, or choose whether to allow analytics.
Information BuildCostPilot stores
BuildCostPilot itself stores your project estimate data in your browser using localStorage. This can include a project name, line item descriptions, quantities, units, unit costs, labor costs, equipment costs, overhead, contingency, markup, and timestamps.
Browser-saved project data
Project estimate data stays on the device and browser where it was entered unless you choose to copy it elsewhere. Clearing browser storage, using a private browsing window, changing browsers, or changing devices may remove or prevent access to that saved data.
Google Analytics
BuildCostPilot uses Google Analytics only if you accept analytics. Google Analytics may collect session statistics, approximate location, browser and device information, page interactions, and first-party identifiers where your consent allows. BuildCostPilot does not hard-code a Google Analytics measurement ID into source files.
Hosting and infrastructure logs
Hosting providers may process basic technical logs, such as request times, IP address, user agent, referring page, and error information, to operate, secure, troubleshoot, and measure the service.
Purposes of processing
Information is used to provide browser-saved estimates, operate and secure the website, understand aggregate site usage when analytics consent is granted, troubleshoot errors, respond to privacy or security requests, and comply with applicable law.
Cookies and consent
Necessary browser storage is used for core project estimate functionality. Analytics storage is optional. You can accept or reject analytics and later change that choice from Cookie settings in the footer. For more detail, see the Cookie Policy.
Third-party processors and services
BuildCostPilot currently uses Vercel for hosting and Google Analytics for optional analytics. These services process information under their own terms and privacy practices.
Retention and security
Browser-saved project data remains in your browser until you delete the project or clear browser storage. Analytics and hosting log retention are controlled by the applicable provider settings and policies. BuildCostPilot uses reasonable technical safeguards, but no website or browser storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
Your choices and requests
You can delete project data from the Project Estimate page, clear localStorage through your browser, reject analytics, or change your analytics choice from Cookie settings. Where applicable law provides rights to access, correct, delete, or limit use of personal information, you may contact privacy@buildcostpilot.com.
Regional privacy rights
California residents and residents of the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, and similar jurisdictions may have additional rights depending on applicable law and the information involved. BuildCostPilot does not sell personal data and does not knowingly share personal data for cross-context behavioral advertising.
Children's privacy
BuildCostPilot is intended for general construction planning use and is not directed to children under 13. Do not use the service to submit information about children.
Browser signals and international processing
BuildCostPilot does not currently respond differently to Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signals, but analytics will not load unless you accept analytics. Third-party providers may process information in the United States or other countries where they operate.
