Cookies and browser storage
Cookies and browser storage are small pieces of information stored by your browser. They can help a site remember choices, operate core features, or measure site usage when analytics is allowed.
Necessary browser storage
BuildCostPilot uses browser storage that is necessary for core functionality. The Project Estimate tool stores project data in localStorage so your project can remain available in the same browser.
Project localStorage
Browser-saved project data can include project names, line item descriptions, quantities, units, unit costs, labor costs, equipment costs, overhead, contingency, markup, and timestamps. This data is not sent to a BuildCostPilot project database in the current version.
Google Analytics
Google Analytics is optional and does not load unless you accept analytics. If accepted, Google Analytics may set first-party cookies to distinguish users and persist session state.
- _ga: used to distinguish users. Default expiration: 2 years.
- _ga_<container-id>: used to persist session state. Default expiration: 2 years.
Analytics consent
You can accept or reject analytics. Your choice is stored locally with the choice, timestamp, and consent policy version. Necessary project localStorage remains available even if you reject analytics.
Changing preferences
Use Cookie settings in the footer to change your analytics choice. If you switch from accepted to rejected, BuildCostPilot disables future analytics initialization and clears available Google Analytics cookies for this site.
Third-party processing
Google Analytics is provided by Google. Hosting and infrastructure are provided by Vercel. These providers process information under their own terms and privacy practices.
Browser controls
Your browser may let you block cookies, clear cookies, clear localStorage, or use private browsing. Blocking or clearing storage can affect browser-saved project estimates.
